Each concert account follows the night beyond the running order: the room, the performance, what the recordings and documents of the night preserve, and where the band went next. Each night gets the space its story needs, not a fixed-size entry that stops just as it gets interesting.
Every night, told as it happened
The book is designed to cover every concert of each period it spans, not only the famous ones. Cancelled shows, special appearances and disputed dates are there too, each told for what it is.
Each night's facts stay with its story: the date, the venue, and the set list as each of the two concert chronologies records it, with the differences marked. Every entry names its sources.
The story between the shows
Tours do not happen in isolation. Records change the repertoire. One era gives way to another. What happens between performances changes the way the next night is heard.
Between the concert accounts, the book adds researched year and era openings, an introduction to each leg of each tour, and the releases, broadcasts and appearances that came between the tours. These are the chapters that turn a collection of nights into a continuous history.
