Last Minute Booking
Both chronologies carry a second Dallas show that night, at Trees, and one of them prints a full set list for it. That set list, its encore and its long note run nearly word for word with what the other chronology prints under a night in October, which this book has already told.

After the Bronco Bowl show on Wednesday, December 11, 1991, Pearl Jam played a second show the same evening at Trees, a club across Dallas, and headlined it. The Pearl Jam Concert Chronology calls it a "last minute booking" and says the small crowd took in friends of the band's drummer, Dave Abbruzzese. It prints no set list for the night. Five Horizons prints one of eleven songs, an encore of two and a long note. All three run nearly word for word, and without the fragment, with what the other chronology prints under October 10, 1991, a night already told in this book.
The show
Later the Same Night
The Bronco Bowl show is told in Row D in Two Archives. Each chronology makes the link between the two rooms in its own way, one under the first entry and one under the second, and both put them in the same evening. Five Horizons publishes a figure for this room of less than 100. The Pearl Jam Concert Chronology hangs no photograph, ticket or poster under its Trees entry; everything it reproduces for the date sits under the Bronco Bowl.
That chronology's Trees entry runs to two lines. It gives the room, the city and the date, prints a hyphen where its set lists go, and then a single sentence of twenty-four words. It does not say when in the evening the show began, and neither does the other.
The Performance
Five Horizons prints eleven titles under its December 11 Trees entry, an encore of two, and a note of some length about what was said from the stage. That material runs nearly word for word with what the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology prints under October 10, 1991, at the same club in the same city. That night is told in Thursday at Trees, where the resemblance is already set down. The differences run both ways. The October set list has twelve items against eleven, one of them a fragment in brackets, and the October note carries a sentence about a song by another band that the December note does not. The December note carries a clause about the band not having been to Texas before that the October note does not, and the October entry names an opening act where the December entry names none.
Which night the eleven titles belong to is not settled by anything either chronology prints. Five Horizons carries no Dallas entry in October at all; for the 9th and the 10th of that month it lists two rooms in Hollywood.
The Next Step
Three nights later both chronologies put the band at the Denver Coliseum, and the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology alone calls it the last night of the tour the three bands had been playing together. That night is told in After the Word And. Neither carries anything on December 13.
Recording & sound
What the Record Preserves
Both chronologies carry Trees on December 11, and they carry it in opposite ways. One prints a hyphen where its set list goes, and one sentence about the booking and the crowd. The other prints a full set, an encore and a long note that run nearly word for word with an October entry in the first. The sentence about the booking is the longest thing in the record that belongs to this night and to no other.
What the record preserves of the second Dallas show is a room, an hour of the evening after another show, a booking made late, and a small crowd that included friends of the drummer. The songs are the part that is missing, and the part that looks least like it is missing.
