Saying No in Den Haag
The Pearl Jam Concert Chronology puts 800 in the Paard and marks the night sold out, and Five Horizons puts 500; the two figures are printed here side by side and neither is settled. In the note the two share, the singer renames "Suggestion" "Saying No in Den Haag" and says the next night's show was cancelled because he knew he would sing with everything he had.

On Monday, March 2, 1992, Pearl Jam played the Paard, in a city the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology calls The Hague, Netherlands, and Five Horizons calls Den Haag, Holland. The chronology's attendance line reads 800 (sold out), and Five Horizons' reads 500. They are two different figures, each printed here as its document gives it; neither is taken for a capacity, and neither is settled against the other. Neither document names an opening act, and Five Horizons gives the show eighty-eight minutes. The two print one note for the night, nearly word for word, and it is counted here as one source; the chronology's copy names one song more.
The show
A Stage List and a Text File
Three objects hang under the date on the chronology's page: a stage list and a text file, both opened here, and a zip archive in the chronology's recording series, which was not fetched. The stage list carries ten handwritten titles, from OCEANS to PORCH, several in short forms, with no date and no encore, in the order of both lists and without "Suggestion" or "Bohemian Rhapsody." The text file heads itself Paard, Den Haag, Holland, as Five Horizons heads the night, names a soundboard as its source and lists fifteen tracks, the eighth called Saying No, and it says it was compiled in May 2020. It is a later description of a recording, not a document from the night, and a track name in it is a label.
The Performance
Both documents run "Oceans," "Even Flow," "Why Go," "Jeremy," "Deep," "Alive," "Black," "Suggestion," "Alone," "Once" and "Porch," with an encore of "Garden," "Leash" and "I've Got a Feeling." Where the chronology prints "(Suggestion)," Five Horizons prints "Saying No/Suggestion," and the chronology also lists "(Bohemian Rhapsody)" before "Porch," which Five Horizons names only in its note. The chronology names four parts inside "I've Got a Feeling": "Dirty Frank," "Hunger Strike," "Say Hello 2 Heaven" and "Jane Says," and Five Horizons names three, without "Dirty Frank." The note the two share begins with the singer's words to stage divers. Before "Black," it says, he told the crowd, "we canceled tomorrow night's show just because I knew I would sing with everything I got tonight." It calls "Suggestion" an extremely rousing version, renamed "Saying No in Den Haag" by the singer. Stone and Mike sing an ear-splitting a cappella version of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" before "Porch," and the singer's brother jams with the band during a long, lively "I've Got a Feeling."
The Next Step
Groningen, the night before, is told in A Review From Vera. Both documents mark the show set for Nijmegen the next night as cancelled, at a room the chronology calls Doornroosje and Five Horizons calls Vereeniging, and the note they share gives the singer's voice problems as the cause. Both put the next show at Tivoli in Utrecht on March 4.
Recording & sound
What the Record Preserves
Five Horizons hangs no object under its entry. The house holds four folders of recordings dated to the night, listed but not opened, and two of them carry a track named "Release," a title neither list has. A track name is a label in a folder, not a document from the night, and none is offered here as evidence of what was played. The Hague comes down to two different attendances, the chronology's 800 with a sold-out mark and Five Horizons' 500, a note the two share, and a song renamed for the city.
