Broadcast in Part on FM
The Pearl Jam Concert Chronology puts 1 000 in the Cabaret Metro and marks the night sold out, and Five Horizons puts 1,000; the same figure is printed here as each gives it, and of the two chronologies only the first marks the night sold out. In the note the two share, part of the show went out on FM radio, the singer changed a line of "Release," Billy Corgan, wearing a dress, and members of the Smashing Pumpkins joined for two songs, and members of U2 were at the show.

On Saturday, March 28, 1992, Pearl Jam played the Cabaret Metro in Chicago, so headed by both chronologies. The chronology's attendance line reads 1 000 (sold out) and Five Horizons' 1,000, one figure printed two ways; of the two chronologies, only the first marks the night sold out, and no object prints the mark. Of the two chronologies, the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology names Eleven as the opening act and Five Horizons the Smashing Pumpkins; the advertisement bills SPECIAL GUEST ELEVEN, and the review says 11, a California trio, opened, with the Pumpkins as encore guests. Five Horizons gives the show eighty-five minutes. The two print one note, nearly word for word, one source; the chronology's copy adds Jimmy Chamberlin among the guests and D'arcy Wretzky's surname.
The show
An Advertisement, a Photograph and a Review
The advertisement the chronology hangs, opened here, is a Coca-Cola Concert Series listing of six shows whose last row prints SATURDAY MAR. 28, METRO, PEARL JAM and SPECIAL GUEST ELEVEN, with no year, no price for its row, no attendance and no sold-out mark. The review it hangs, opened here, is headed Identity crisis disappears when Seattle's Pearl Jam takes the stage; it says Pearl Jam headlined Saturday at Cabaret Metro and that 11 opened; its byline and its photographer are not taken, its photograph's credit line names the Tribune, and it prints no date line. The Spring Tour itinerary the chronology hangs under its tour heading, opened here, gives a room it spells Caberet Metro a capacity of 1000, the chronologies' attendance figure; a capacity is not an attendance, so the match confirms nothing and settles neither.
The Performance
Both give the soundcheck as "Jeremy" and "Deep," then run "Release," "Even Flow," "Rockin' in the Free World," "Once," "State of Love and Trust," "Alive," "Black," "Deep," "Jeremy," "Why Go" and "Porch," then "Garden" and "Leash" as a first encore and "Window Paine" and "I've Got a Feeling" as a second. Between "Release" and "Even Flow," the chronology prints "Improv," and Five Horizons an improvisation with a label of its own. The shared note says part of the show was broadcast on FM radio, calls the singer very upbeat and says he changed a line of "Release"; it calls the later "Why Go" incredible. Billy Corgan, wearing a dress, and members of the Smashing Pumpkins joined for "Window Paine" and "I've Got a Feeling": the chronology names Jimmy Chamberlin and D'arcy Wretzky, Five Horizons D'Arcy alone. Both say members of U2 were at the show, sizing Pearl Jam up as possible tour openers in Europe, untested here.
The Next Step
Milwaukee, the night before, is told in Alumni Hall, the Varsity, the Grill. Neither has an entry for March 29; the next show, Bogart's in Cincinnati on March 30, is told in Seven on the Advertisement, Eight on the Ticket.

What the Record Preserves
Six objects hang under this date: the advertisement, a photograph not described here, the review with its small image, and the recording series' information file and its unfetched audio zip. Under its entry Five Horizons hangs only its video guide's icon, a redirect page reading Video Guide for 1992 - removed. The information file, held with a fingerprint file in the house's third folder, gives its source as an FM broadcast with four songs patched from a speed-corrected audience DAT source; it lists eighteen tracks, one a labelled break, and is dated 2021, as its own account. One of the house's three folders holds a Twenty-Ten information file with Five Horizons' heading and a shorter text of its note, dated by the file to 1999, without the dress clause or U2's reason, one source with Five Horizons; it lists eleven tracks for a recording it says was digitized on October 31, 1999, missing four songs it names, a claim about the recording, not the concert. A second folder holds a playlist of fourteen entries, two numbered 12, "Garden" and "Wash," and one titled "Dirty Frank," the last two in neither chronology's list for the night. Chicago comes down to one attendance printed two ways, a capacity that is not an attendance, a support act named two ways, a shared note and an FM source.
