Up the Light Scaffolding
Five Horizons prints an attendance of 9,000 and a support act line naming Bad Religion and Sisters of Mercy, two lines the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology does not print, and brackets 45m after its heading without stating what it measures. Both notes tell of a huge gap between crowd and stage, of long crowd-surfs by the singer and, during "Porch," of his climb up the very high light scaffolding.

On Saturday, June 13, 1992, Pearl Jam played the Go Bang Festival in Berlin, Germany, which the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology writes with an exclamation mark after Bang and places at the Freilichtbühne Wuhlheide, Five Horizons at Wuhlheide. Of the two chronologies, only Five Horizons prints an attendance, 9,000, and a support act line, naming Bad Religion and Sisters of Mercy in that order. Five Horizons brackets 45m after its heading without stating what it measures, and the house's information file repeats it in its own heading. Both chronologies list the same nine songs in the same order, the chronology adding an Improv, and their notes are six sentences each in nearly the same words.
The show
A Festival at Wuhlheide
The chronology heads the night Freilichtbühne Wuhlheide, Berlin, Germany, the festival's name in parentheses; Five Horizons and the house's information and remaster series files head it Go Bang Festival at Wuhlheide, and no name is settled against another. The chronology's entry ends with a remaster series line that names the band, the date and the city, with an info-file. Nine objects hang under this date on the chronology's page: an image whose markup title is Poster; an untitled PDF and an untitled image; one titled Ticket; three images whose markup titles name the singer before a credit; and two untitled links into the chronology's remaster series, a zip and a text file. The Poster image, the PDF and the untitled image also hang under June 14. Neither chronology says which act headlined or in what order the acts played, and neither they nor the house's files mention a broadcast.
The Performance
Both chronologies run "Even Flow," "Why Go," "Jeremy," "Deep," "Alive," "Black," "Leash," "Once" and "Porch," and neither chronology prints an encore line. Between "Leash" and "Once" the chronology's list prints an Improv and Five Horizons' list none, yet both notes tell of an improvisation before "Once," under differently worded labels. Both notes describe a hot, dusty arena, a core group of fans moshing at the front and the rest of the crowd plainly there for two other bands, the chronology naming Sisters Of Mercy before Bad Religion and Five Horizons the reverse. They say the band seemed upset by a huge gap between crowd and stage, and that the singer tried to make up for it with several long, wild crowd-surfs into the audience. During "Porch," they say, he climbed the very high light scaffolding, where he danced, and both notes end by praising the performance.
The Next Step
Hamburg, two nights before, is told in Footsteps First. Both chronologies put the next show the following night, June 14, in Bremen; it is told in A Snippet of Invisible Sun.
Recording & sound
What the Record Preserves
The house holds three text files for the night: a ConcertInfo information file, a remaster series file and its fingerprint list. The information file repeats Five Horizons' heading, bracketed 45m included, one source with it, but not its note, and its nine numbered tracks follow Five Horizons' set line, "Porch" marked as cut at its end. It calls the recording complete but for the missing part of that song, measured against Five Horizons' setlist and information, a claim about the recording, not the concert. It dates the concert's digitizing and clean-up to 4/6/00. The remaster series file names two sources, A and B, each reaching CDR by way of a Sony TCD-D3 and DAT, the first from Sonic Studios, and mixes them. Its lineage runs from CDR through WAV and an EQ and mix step to FLAC; its notes report one source speed-corrected by about 0.2% to match the other, each equalised for tonal balance, and loud claps removed. Its nine tracks are the information file's, neither list giving an improvisation a track, and it dates its compilation June 2024 and credits a compiler; the fingerprint file lists nine FLAC files named as the tracks are. Berlin comes down to one festival headed two ways, an attendance and a support act line that of the two chronologies only Five Horizons prints, a 45m it brackets without saying what it measures, an Improv in one list, two notes of six sentences each, and a climb up the light scaffolding.
