One Entry or Two

· Travel and Transportation Building · Oklahoma City

Five Horizons joins Improv to "Rearviewmirror" in a single entry where the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology prints two, so that its list for the night runs to eighteen entries against the chronology's nineteen. The chronology's page hangs three objects under the date, one of them titled Dinner ticket.

On Tuesday, November 23, 1993, Pearl Jam played in Oklahoma City, at a venue that the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology heads as the T & T Building and Five Horizons as the T&T Center. Neither chronology prints an attendance line, and both name Urge Overkill, the chronology on its opening act line and Five Horizons on its support act line. Both print the same thirteen set entries in one order, from "Wash" to "Alive," and two encores, the second holding "Indifference" in each. Of the two chronologies, neither prints a soundcheck line or a note for the night.

The show

Building or Center

Both chronologies place the show in Oklahoma City; the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology names the venue the T & T Building, and Five Horizons names it the T&T Center. Neither heading brackets a figure, and neither chronology's entry prints a capacity, a show time or a ticket price.

The Performance

The chronology's setlist runs thirteen entries, opening with "Wash" and "Why Go," giving "Daughter" as the sixth and "Alone" as the eighth, and closing with "Go," "Animal" and "Alive"; Five Horizons' set line gives the same thirteen in the same order. Both join a label to "Daughter" by a slash, the chronology setting it in parentheses and Five Horizons printing it without them. The chronology's first encore runs Improv, "Rearviewmirror," "Elderly Woman," which it follows with three dots, "Leash" and "Porch," and its second holds "Indifference." Five Horizons' first encore joins Improv to "Rearviewmirror" by a slash and gives "Elderly Woman" without the dots, and its second also holds "Indifference." Counted item by item, the chronology's list runs to nineteen entries and Five Horizons' to eighteen.

The Next Step

The Barton Coliseum in Little Rock, the night before, is told in Shorts and Shoes at the Barton Coliseum. Both chronologies put the next show the following night, November 24, in Wichita; it is told in Black Started Over in Wichita.

Recording & sound

What the Record Preserves

The chronology's entry has no remaster series line, and Five Horizons' entry ends with a line reading tour poster. Three objects hang with the night's entry on the chronology's page: an image whose markup title is Setlist, one titled Ticket and one titled Dinner ticket. Oklahoma City comes down to a venue named two ways, no attendance figure and no note in either chronology, one act under two labels, thirteen set entries in one order, first encores that part over Improv, nineteen entries against eighteen, and three objects under the date.
