Mark Arm Joins In at Balch Fieldhouse
The Pearl Jam Concert Chronology's encore of "Rearviewmirror," "Whipping" and "Sonic Reducer" follows a list that runs from "Even Flow" to "Why Go." Both notes name a guest, Mark Arm, for "Sonic Reducer," the last entry in both lists.

On Saturday, November 27, 1993, Pearl Jam played Balch Fieldhouse in Boulder for a second night running, Five Horizons again adding the University of Colorado to the venue's name. The Pearl Jam Concert Chronology's attendance line reads 4 000 (sold out) and Five Horizons' 3,800, and the chronology names Mudhoney and Urge Overkill as opening acts where Five Horizons names Mudhoney as its one support act. The two lists differ in order, in two songs and in the encore: the chronology sets "Once" before "Deep," prints "Jeremy" and "Last Exit" and closes on an encore line of three, where Five Horizons reverses that pair, lacks both songs and runs the three into its one set line. Both notes say, in nearly the same words, that Mark Arm joined Pearl Jam for "Sonic Reducer."
The show
A Second Night at Balch Fieldhouse
Neither heading brackets a figure, and neither chronology's entry prints a capacity, a show time or a ticket price. Of the two chronologies, only the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology marks the show sold out, and only it names Urge Overkill for the night.
The Performance
The chronology's setlist line runs fourteen entries from "Even Flow," "Once" and "Deep" to "Why Go," with "Last Exit" eleventh and an entry in parentheses thirteenth. Its encore line holds "Rearviewmirror," "Whipping" and "Sonic Reducer," seventeen entries in all. Five Horizons prints one set line of fourteen and no encore line: it sets "Deep" before "Once," has no "Jeremy" and no "Last Exit," joins the chronology's thirteenth entry to "Why Go" with a slash, and ends with the chronology's three encore entries. Neither chronology prints a soundcheck. The chronology's note has Mark Arm joining the band for "Sonic Reducer," and Five Horizons' note says the same, writing PJ for Pearl Jam.
The Next Step
Boulder's first night, the night before, is told in The First of Two in Boulder. Las Vegas, three nights later, at the venue the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology heads as the Aladdin Theatre and Five Horizons as the Aladdin Theater, is told in Tremor Christ Premiered at the Aladdin.

What the Record Preserves
Five Horizons ends its entry with a line reading tour poster. One object hangs under the night's heading on the chronology's page, an image whose markup title is Setlist. Boulder's second night comes down to one fieldhouse, two attendance figures and a sold-out mark, an opening act that of the two chronologies only the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology names, two lists that part over two songs, one order and the encore, one guest on "Sonic Reducer" and one object.
