An Early Porch in Missoula
Both notes remark that "Porch" came unusually early and that "Go" had an extended intro. The Pearl Jam Concert Chronology's note adds that fans kept going over the barricades all concert long, and that the band briefly played Split Enz's "Stuff And Nonsense."

On Wednesday, February 8, 1995, Pearl Jam played Adams Field House in Missoula, as both chronologies head it, with the University of Montana added in Five Horizons. The Pearl Jam Concert Chronology prints an attendance of 7 000 and marks the show sold out, where Five Horizons prints no attendance line, and both name Shangri-La Speedway, the chronology on its opening act line and Five Horizons on its support act line. The chronology's setlist runs nineteen entries and Five Horizons' set eighteen, from "Corduroy" to "Blood," and each follows with the same three-song encore. Both notes place "Porch" unusually early in the set and describe an extended intro to "Go."
The show
A Local Opening Act
Five Horizons brackets 100m after its heading without stating what it measures, and the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology's heading carries no figure. The chronology's note calls Shangri-La Speedway a local opening act. It says that all concert long fans threw themselves over the barricades before the stage, and that security guards posted behind the barricades caught them and walked them back to the other side.
The Performance
The chronology's setlist runs "Corduroy," "Spin The Black Circle," "Last Exit," "Tremor Christ," "Porch," "Glorified G," "Daughter," joined by slashes to Starboy and to a second label, "Go," "Animal," "State Of Love And Trust," "Stuff And Nonsense" in parentheses, "Not For You," Improv, "Immortality," "Satan's Bed," "Whipping," "Even Flow," "W.M.A." and "Blood." Its encore line holds "Redemption Song," marked as Eddie's solo, "Yellow Ledbetter" and "Let My Love Open The Door." Five Horizons joins the same two labels to "Daughter," the first written as two words, and between "State of Love and Trust" and "Immortality" prints Improv with a label of its own, "Not for You" and Jack Irons chant joined to "Immortality"; its encore line carries no solo mark. Counted item by item, the chronology's fields give twenty-two entries and Five Horizons' twenty-one. The chronology's note names the tag in "Daughter" as Starboy, a song it gives to The Frogs, and says the band briefly played "Stuff And Nonsense," which it credits to Split Enz, after "State Of Love And Trust." Both notes say that ahead of "Satan's Bed" the singer went through a list of words and phrases. Five Horizons' note calls "Redemption Song" a Bob Marley cover.
The Next Step
Seattle, two nights earlier, is told in Neil Young and the Second Act of Love. After the night's lines, the chronology sets a heading and a paragraph for the tour that followed, which opened with three shows in Japan, and says all 122 000 tickets for its Australian dates went within three hours once sales opened on January 23, 1995. Both chronologies put the next show ten days later, on February 18, at Izumity 21 in Sendai, Japan; it is told in An Extended Black in Sendai.
Recording & sound
What the Record Preserves
The chronology closes its entry with a line for its remaster series, giving the band, the date and Missoula, and Five Horizons closes its own with a line reading main and encore setlist scan. The chronology's page hangs eight objects under the night's heading: an image whose markup title is Setlist, two untitled PDFs, two untitled images, one titled Ticket and two untitled links into the remaster series. The house holds four text files for the night in two folders: the remaster series' information file and its fingerprint list, copied twice. The information file names the band, the date and the venue with its city, traces one source from a microphone to DAT and then FLAC, and notes smoothed volume fluctuations, an EQ for tonal balance and a volume boost. Its twenty-five numbered labels open with an Intro and set encore breaks after "Immortality" and after "Blood," so that "Satan's Bed" to "Blood," which both chronologies keep in the main set, stand apart, and no label answers to "Stuff And Nonsense." February 8 in Missoula, in these documents, is one venue named alike, a sold-out figure that of the two chronologies only the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology prints, one act on both bill lines, one set told two ways in a single stretch, eight objects and two house files copied twice.
