A Funky Satan's Bed in Las Cruces
The Pearl Jam Concert Chronology's note calls the "Satan's Bed" that came after "Dissident" funky and hard, and Five Horizons' note says the same. Both notes call "Even Flow" rousting, and the chronology's note says its extended guitar jam led on to "Rearviewmirror" and "I Got Id."

On Thursday, September 14, 1995, Pearl Jam played the Pan American Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico, a venue both chronologies head by that name. Five Horizons gives an attendance of 8,000 with no status, and the chronology's entry has no attendance line. The Ramones stand on both bill lines again, as Ramones on the chronology's opening act line and as The Ramones on Five Horizons' support line. The chronology prints twenty-one entries in its setlist and five in its encore, twenty-six in all, and Five Horizons gives the same counts, twenty-one on its set line and five on its encore line.
The show
The Pan American Center
The house's information file names the same center and city on its third line. Five Horizons brackets 140m after its heading without stating what it measures, and the chronology's heading carries no figure. Neither chronology's entry gives a capacity, a door or stage time, a ticket price, or a promoter.
The Performance
The chronology's setlist runs "Release," "Last Exit," "Spin The Black Circle," "Animal," "Tremor Christ," "Corduroy," "Whipping," "Not For You," "Elderly Woman," "Why Go," "Jeremy," "Go," "Dissident," "Satan's Bed," "Daughter," "Even Flow," "Rearviewmirror," "I Got Id," "Immortality," "Black," and "Porch." The chronology's encore holds "Better Man," "Alive," "Blood," "Footsteps," and "Yellow Ledbetter." Five Horizons' set line gives its twenty-one entries in the chronology's order, and its encore line holds the same five entries as the chronology's encore. Three entries take different forms: "Spin The Black Circle" and "Not For You" in the chronology against "Spin the Black Circle" and "Not for You" in Five Horizons, and "Elderly Woman" with an ellipsis after it in the chronology and without one in Five Horizons. Both notes call the "Satan's Bed" that came after "Dissident" funky and hard. Both notes call "Even Flow" rousting and speak of its extended guitar jam. The chronology's note says the jam led to "Rearviewmirror," which it calls super, and then to "I Got Id," which it calls sweet.
The Next Step
Phoenix, the night before, is told in The First Rescheduled Date in Phoenix. Both chronologies put the next show two days later, on September 16, at South Park Meadows in Austin; it is told in A Heavy Jacket in the Austin Heat.

What the Record Preserves
The chronology's entry ends with a remaster series line that names the band, the date and Las Cruces and carries the label info-file. Five Horizons' entry again closes with three short lines that read as link labels of its page: setlist scan, Monkeywrench and Radio link. Seven objects hang under the night's heading on the chronology's page: four images, among them two whose markup titles read Setlist and Encore, a link to a PDF file, and two links into the chronology's remaster series, one to a zip file and one to a text file. The house holds four files for the night: the remaster series' information file and its fingerprint list, each in two identical copies. The information file opens with three lines naming the band, the date, and the center with its city and state. It gives one source line, which runs to FLAC, and its lineage line starts from FLAC and ends in FLAC, as the file prints that line. The file's notes list the smoothing of fluctuations in volume, equalizing for tonal balance, a boost in volume, and the removal of loud claps. The information file's twenty-eight numbered labels open with Intro and follow Five Horizons' set order from "Release" to "Porch," and after an Encore Break label the last five run from "Better Man" to "Yellow Ledbetter." The fingerprint list gives each of twenty-eight FLAC file names a value, and its names are the twenty-eight labels. The information file and the fingerprint list name no recordist and give no length for the recording. Las Cruces on September 14 comes down to one center named alike in both chronologies, 140m that Five Horizons brackets without saying what it measures, an attendance of 8,000 that Five Horizons prints, the Ramones on both bill lines again, twenty-six entries in each chronology, two notes that share a rousting "Even Flow" and a funky "Satan's Bed," seven objects, and four house files.
