An Alien Head in Salt Lake City
The Pearl Jam Concert Chronology's note, like Five Horizons', says Eddie's costume on the night after Halloween was an alien head, a very large one, worn with alien gloves whose fingers were long. Both notes call "Red Mosquito" a new song, and the chronology's note says Monkeywrench Radio carried the set on air for the first time since Soldier Field.

On Wednesday, November 1, 1995, Pearl Jam played the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, as both chronologies head the night. Five Horizons gives an attendance of 9,000, and the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology's entry prints no attendance line. The chronology's opening act line names Fastbacks, and Five Horizons' support act line names The Fastbacks. The chronology prints twenty-one entries in its setlist and five in its encore, twenty-six in all, and Five Horizons gives the same counts on its set and encore lines. Both notes say that after an earlier rain-out the band was back in Salt Lake City, keeping its word, and played two shows there.
The show
A Return to the Delta Center
Both chronologies head the night at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, UT, the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology's heading adding USA at its end. Five Horizons brackets 135m after its heading without stating what it measures, and the chronology's heading carries no figure. Neither chronology's entry gives a capacity, a door or stage time, a ticket price, or a promoter.
The Performance
The chronology's setlist runs "Go," "Animal," "Last Exit," "Spin The Black Circle," "Tremor Christ," "Corduroy," "Not For You," "Lukin," Improv, "Elderly Woman," which it follows with three dots, "Deep," "Dissident," "Daughter," "Even Flow," "Rearviewmirror," "I Got Id," "Whipping," "Immortality," "Alive," "Black," and "Blood." Its encore holds "Red Mosquito," "Better Man," "Leaving Here," "Footsteps," and "Porch." Five Horizons' set line gives twenty-one entries in the same order, and its encore line the same five. Both notes say the band came on stage in costumes because it was the night after Halloween, and that Eddie's was a very large alien head worn with alien gloves that had long fingers. The notes go on to say that the band then threw to the crowd items that it said were candy corn and cigarettes. Both notes call the improv that came ahead of "Elderly Woman" very sweet. The two notes also call "Red Mosquito" a new song, and both find the introduction to "Leaving Here" interesting. The chronology's note says Monkeywrench Radio carried the band's set on air for the first time since the Soldier Field date in Chicago, and Five Horizons' note says Monkeywrench Radio carried this show.
The Next Step
New Orleans, forty-five days earlier, is told in Joey Ramone on Sonic Reducer in New Orleans. Both chronologies put the next show the following night, November 2, at the same venue in Salt Lake City; it is told in Monkeywrench Radio Again in Salt Lake City.
Recording & sound
What the Record Preserves
The chronology's entry ends with a remaster series line that names the band, the date, and Salt Lake City and carries the label info-file. Five Horizons' entry closes with link labels of its page: setlist scan, then Monkeywrench, then Radio link. Twelve objects hang under the night's heading on the chronology's page. They are an image whose markup title reads Signed setlist, seven more images, two links to PDF files, and two links into the chronology's remaster series, one to a zip file and one to a text file. The house holds three files for the night: the remaster series' information file and its fingerprint list in one folder, and a transfer log in a second folder. The information file opens with four lines that name the band, the date, the Delta Center, and Salt Lake City with its state. Its source line starts with Soundboard, and a parenthesis on it says that two faults were patched, each from a source the file names, one of them a cut in "Porch." The file's lineage line ends with FLAC and opens with the code sbd. The file's notes, its own statement about the processing, say that fluctuations in volume were smoothed out and that the stereo channels were given more separation by a different EQ on each, bass and treble on the left and the mid range on the right. The information file's twenty-seven numbered labels open with Intro, follow the chronology's setlist from "Go" to "Blood," with "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town" written in full, and close with "Red Mosquito," "Better Man," "Leaving Here," "Footsteps," and "Porch." The fingerprint list gives each of twenty-seven FLAC file names a value, the names following the labels except that the eleventh is shortened to "Elderly Woman." The information file and the fingerprint list name no recordist and give no length for the recording. Salt Lake City on November 1 comes down to one venue named alike in both chronologies, 135m that Five Horizons brackets without saying what it measures, an attendance of 9,000 that Five Horizons prints, one act under two names, twenty-six entries in each chronology, two notes that share the costumes and the radio broadcast, twelve objects, and three house files.
