Throw Your Arms Around Me at the Soundcheck
Both chronologies print a soundcheck of two songs, "Throw Your Arms Around Me" and "Better Man." Five Horizons' note says Eddie did many windmills, and that the mirrorball was set turning in "Better Man."

On Friday, October 4, 1996, Pearl Jam played Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, a venue both chronologies name alike. The Pearl Jam Concert Chronology gives an attendance of 28 500 and marks the show sold out, and Five Horizons gives 25,000. The chronology's opening acts line lists Ben Harper, then Fastbacks, and Five Horizons' support act line lists The Fastbacks, then Ben Harper. The chronology prints a setlist of twenty entries and two encores of six and one, and Five Horizons' set and two encore lines give the same counts.
The show
Memorial Stadium
Both headings place the stadium in Charlotte, NC, the chronology's with USA after the state. Five Horizons brackets 140m after its heading without stating what it measures. Both notes say that, amid worry over the barriers giving way and people being crushed, and with the fire marshal threatening to call the show off, a member of the crew pleaded with the crowd to move back and calm down. Five Horizons' note says the crowd stepped back and cheered, and that the night went on with no more trouble.
The Performance
Both chronologies print a soundcheck of two songs: "Throw Your Arms Around Me" and "Better Man." The chronology's setlist runs "Long Road," "Last Exit," "Animal," "Spin The Black Circle," "Hail Hail," "In My Tree," "Corduroy," "Lukin," "Not For You," "Jeremy," "Better Man," "Red Mosquito," "Black," "State Of Love And Trust," "MFC," "Habit," "Rearviewmirror," "Immortality," "Alive," and "Porch." Its first encore holds "Who You Are," "Even Flow," "Whipping," "I Got Id," "Leaving Here," and "Daughter," and its second "Yellow Ledbetter." Five Horizons' set line gives twenty entries in the chronology's order, and its two encore lines six and one. Five Horizons' note says the mirrorball was set turning in "Better Man." The same note says Eddie did many windmills, and that he gave "Habit" a tag.
The Next Step
Hartford, two days earlier, is told in A Long, Talkative Night in Hartford. Both chronologies put the next show the following night, October 5, at the North Charleston Coliseum; it is told in A Slow Warm-Up at the North Charleston Coliseum.

What the Record Preserves
Five Horizons' entry closes with two short lines that read as link labels of its page: poster, and ticket, which a parenthesis calls different from the other tickets. Under the night's heading the chronology's page hangs fifteen objects: thirteen images and two links to PDF files. Charlotte on October 4 comes down to one stadium named alike, 140m that Five Horizons brackets without saying what it measures, an attendance of 28 500 in the chronology and 25,000 in Five Horizons, two acts listed in opposite orders on the two bill lines, a soundcheck of two songs in both, a setlist of twenty and encores of six and one in each, and fifteen objects under the date.
