Brendan O'Brien on Keyboards at Shoreline
The chronology's note names Brendan O'Brien as the player of the keyboards in the band's set. It calls "Nothingman" the biggest surprise, played live for just the second time, and it says that "Corduroy" came in a slower, very different version.

On Saturday, October 19, 1996, Pearl Jam played at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, and both chronologies' headings mark the night as the Bridge School Benefit and as acoustic. The chronology gives an attendance of 20 000 and marks the show sold out. The chronology prints ten entries in its setlist, and Five Horizons gives ten on its set line.
The show
The Bridge School Benefit at Shoreline
Five Horizons brackets 51m after its heading without stating what it measures.
The Performance
The chronology's soundcheck line gives "Dead Man," "Off He Goes," "Around The Bend," "Footsteps," "Elderly Woman," which it follows with three dots, and "Nothingman," and Five Horizons' soundcheck line gives eight entries: the same six in the same order, with one more before "Dead Man" and another after it. The chronology's setlist runs "Footsteps," "Sometimes," "Better Man," "Corduroy," "Off He Goes," "Nothingman," "Black," "Daughter," "Elderly Woman," which it follows with three dots, and "Yellow Ledbetter." Five Horizons' set line gives ten entries in the chronology's order. The chronology's note opens by describing Eddie's hair as shorter and slicked back. The chronology's note says that "Corduroy" came in a slower, very different version with a changed tune, and it calls "Nothingman" the biggest surprise, played live for just the second time. It names Brendan O'Brien as the player of the keyboards in the band's set. The chronology's note calls Neil's set wonderful and says that most of those present came up on stage with him to sing backup on his last song.
The Next Step
Fort Lauderdale, twelve days earlier, is told in A Fast Satan's Bed in Fort Lauderdale. The second Bridge School Benefit night, the following night at the same amphitheatre, is told in Sundown at Shoreline.

What the Record Preserves
The chronology's entry ends with a remaster series line that names the band, the date, the Bridge School Benefit, and v2 in parentheses, and carries the code sbd, the mark A+, and the label info-file. Five Horizons ends its entry with link lines that read Bridge Benefit program and Bridge Benefit button, and its last line reads setlist scan. Under the night's heading the chronology's page hangs an image whose markup title reads Poster, two whose markup titles read Ad, one whose markup title reads Ad (front), one whose markup title reads Ad (back), one whose markup title reads Setlist, one whose markup title reads Ticket, two more images, a link to a PDF file, and two links into its remaster series, one to a zip file and one to a text file. The house holds two files for the night: the remaster series' information file and its fingerprint list. The information file opens with four lines: the band, the date, Bridge School Benefit, and a place line that ends with Mountainview, CA, the place written as one word. Its source line ends with SHN, which is also the first word of its lineage line, and FLAC is the lineage line's last word. Its eleven numbered labels give an Intro label and then ten from "Footsteps" to "Yellow Ledbetter" in the chronology's setlist order. The fingerprint list gives each of eleven FLAC file names a value, the names following the labels. Shoreline on October 19 comes down to an acoustic Bridge School Benefit night in both headings, 51m that Five Horizons brackets without saying what it measures, an attendance of 20 000 in the chronology, six soundcheck entries in the chronology and eight in Five Horizons, ten set entries in each, Brendan O'Brien on keyboards in the chronology's note, twelve objects under the date, and two house files.
