Still at Home in Ireland

· Green Glens Arena · Cork

Both notes say that before "Better Man" Eddie spoke of the long journey to Ireland and of still feeling at home there. Five Horizons' note says Stone nodded to Jack as "Daughter" ended.

On Thursday, October 24, 1996, Pearl Jam played in Cork, Ireland, at a venue that the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology heads as the Green Glens Arena and Five Horizons as the Millstreet Arena. Five Horizons gives an attendance of 3,000, the chronology's opening act line names Fastbacks, and Five Horizons' support act line names The Fastbacks. Both chronologies give the main set in one order and an encore of five entries, the chronology's encore running from "I Got Id" to "Yellow Ledbetter." Both notes call the show standard, as it seemed to them, with little give and take between band and crowd.

The show

Two Names in Cork

Both headings give the place as Cork, Ireland. Five Horizons brackets 106m after its heading without stating what it measures.

The Performance

The chronology's setlist runs "Sometimes," "Last Exit," "Spin The Black Circle," "Hail Hail," "In My Tree," "Corduroy," "Better Man," "Not For You," "Animal," "Dissident," "Daughter," "Habit," "Rearviewmirror," "Jeremy," "Alive," and "Porch." Its encore holds "I Got Id," "Lukin," "Even Flow," "Present Tense," and "Yellow Ledbetter." Five Horizons' set lines give the same entries in the chronology's order, and its encore line, which it calls enc 1, gives five entries in the same order. Both notes say that before "Better Man" Eddie spoke of how long the journey to Ireland had been and of still feeling at home there, with its rain, its green land, its beer, and its people. Five Horizons' note says that as "Daughter" ended, Stone nodded to Jack.

The Next Step

Mountain View, four days earlier, at the Shoreline Amphitheatre, is told in Sundown at Shoreline. Both chronologies put the next show two days later, on October 26, at The Point Theatre in Dublin; it is told in The Crowd's Choice in Dublin.

What the Record Preserves

Five Horizons' entry ends with two lines reading ticket and poster. Under the night's heading the chronology's page hangs an image whose markup title reads Ticket and one more image. Cork on October 24 comes down to a venue that the two chronologies name differently, 106m that Five Horizons brackets without saying what it measures, an attendance of 3,000 in Five Horizons, one act on both bill lines, a set and an encore in one order in both chronologies, both notes' account of Eddie still feeling at home in Ireland, and two objects under the date.
