The First Breath Since 1994 in New York
Both chronologies' notes say "Breath" was played that night for the first time since 1994, a last playing the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology places in Boston. Both notes also say Ben Harper, ecstatic, joined the band for "Indifference."

On Friday, September 11, 1998, Pearl Jam played Madison Square Garden in New York, the venue both chronologies name in their headings. Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals stand on the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology's opening act line, and Ben Harper on Five Horizons' support act line. Both set lines open with "Release" and close with "Do The Evolution," and both second encore lines hold "Indifference" and "Alive."
The show
A Sold-Out Garden
The two headings give the night as September 11, 1998, at Madison Square Garden in New York City, NY, USA, in the Pearl Jam Concert Chronology, and as 09/11/98, at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY, in Five Horizons. Five Horizons brackets 130m after its heading without stating what it measures. The chronology's attendance line prints 20 000 and marks the show sold out.
The Performance
The chronology's setlist includes, in order, "Release," "Hail Hail," "Animal," "Even Flow," "Given To Fly," "Corduroy," "MFC," "Habit," "Faithfull," "Daughter," "Wishlist," "Nothingman," "Immortality," "Brain Of J.," "Black," and "Do The Evolution," and Five Horizons' set line includes the same entries in the same order. Both first encore lines include, in order, "Breath," "State Of Love And Trust," "Off He Goes," "Leatherman," "Better Man," "Mankind," and "Baba O'Riley." Both second encore lines hold "Indifference" and "Alive."
Both notes say that as the band came back for the encore, they found another sea of Breath signs, yet again, on every level, in what the chronology calls Madison Square Garden and Five Horizons the Garden. Both notes say "Breath" had its first playing since 1994 that night, since Boston in 1994 by the chronology's account. Both notes say "State Of Love And Trust" followed a short announcement. Both notes say Stone introduced "Mankind." Both notes say Ben Harper, ecstatic, joined the band for "Indifference," a song they add he had included in some of his own shows. During "Alive," both notes say, it took Eddie four tries to get his microphone tossed over the vocal monitor rig that is above his head, and when it went over, rather than just stand there, he climbed up the mic cord and hung on it until the song ended.
The Next Step
New York, the night before, on September 10, is told in Three Guitar Changes at Madison Square Garden. Hartford, two days later, on September 13, is told in Asking the Hartford Crowd for the Lyrics.

What the Record Preserves
The objects the chronology's page hangs under the night's heading include an untitled link to a PDF file, an untitled image and an image whose markup title reads Ticket. September 11 at Madison Square Garden comes down to one venue named alike in both headings, an attendance figure in the chronology, Ben Harper's name on both bills, one set in one order in both chronologies, notes on a sea of Breath signs and the first "Breath" since 1994, Ben Harper on "Indifference" and the objects under the date.
